Lake Möser

About 15 minutes over Mösern there is an idyllic woodland solitude, buried in a “rock bath” revetted with till – a small, up to 11 m deep Lake Möser at 1.292 m. Even though it is situated in the nature reserve (in shallow water there are buckbeans, close to the banks Alpine roses bloom and it serves as a breeding area for various waterfowl), swimming is allowed here. It is considered to be one of the warmest swimming lakes of Tyrol.

Wildmoossee und Lottensee Lakes

Close to the idyllic placed Möserer Lake, on the Plateau Wildmoos (1320m), a very popular nearby recreational area not far from Seefelds, one can observe a very interesting natural phenomenon: how from nothing in the middle of the green meadow, larch and pear woods, the two lakes, Wildmoossee and Lottensee appear. This (not regular) recurrent “Wonder of Nature” probably results from interplay of water level in the underground karst system, correspondingly the spring rainfall and the snow melt.
Despite manifold attempts to predetermine the appearance of the lakes, it didn’t work.
The exact causes for the appearance and correspondingly the nonappearance of the lakes cannot be precisely defined.

Wildsee Lake– the name giver of the place Seefeld

It must be “Sevelt” (a slope at the lake), the name coined to the settlement first documentary cited in 1022, that was the name of then already existent Wildsee.
At the times of the king Maximilian there was introduced a fish breed, which gave the “second” name to the lake (“Lampretensee” or “Lamprey Lake”). However, the economic exploitation of the lake was limited only to a few decades. It contributed and continues to contribute to the beauty of the Seefeld plateau and with its two lido sites it is today a popular bathing lake.
The southern bank of the lake (with Reither Moor or “Reith marsh”) is since 1926 a natural reserve due to its botanic peculiarities.
