The Peace Bell (Friedensglocke) and the Hiking Trail of Peace / Mösern
Only 500 meters away from the Dorfkrug Apartments
The Peace Bell on the outer west hill of Mösern is an impressive sight. It stands freely in a mighty landscape of the Alps and opens a magnificent panoramic view over the Tyrolean Inn Valley.
The Opening of the 25th anniversary of the ARGE ALP When on the 12th of October 1997 the legendary South Tyrolean governor Dr. Silvius Magnago let the “Peace Bell of the Alps” ring for the first time, it was a culmination of celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the ARGE ALP (The Association of Alpine States Bayern, Tyrol and South Tyrol)
Symbol of the good neighborhood in the AlpsIn one of the most impressive places of Tyrol in the Peace Village Mösern – a swallow’s nest of Tyrol – there stands the Peace Bell as a weighty symbol of solidarity and the good neighborhood in the sensitive Alps on the roof of Europe. In this accreted Europe with its so manifold growing cultures, languages, living conditions, peace and war history the effort of solidarity is a responsibility for the future generations.
The biggest bell of Tyrol
The Peace Bell is the biggest bell of Tyrol. Its height amounts to 2,51 Meters and its diameter is 2,54 Meters. The brace has to carry over 10 tons of cast steel and to stand the extreme swinging. Only the clapper weighs over half a ton. The heavy bell rings everyday at 17:00 and its sound reaches far in the Oberinntal.
